love it or leave it: korres jasmine lip butter

One product I am always trying in different brands and formulas is lip balms. I switch between lip balms in sticks, pots and squeeze tubes constantly. My latest purchase was the Korres Jasmine Lip Butter. It was an impulse purchase! I was on the hunt to get a new Dior Creme de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm but I would’ve had to walk to the other side of the shopping mall to pick it up – and that wasn’t happening! I was in Shoppers Drug Mart picking up something else and at the check out in the Beauty Boutique they had the Korres Jasmine Lip Butter on display. I am glad I picked it up! It is one of my favourite lip balms and I will purchase it again. I’ve been using it for the past few months and am almost out.

Korres-JasmineLipButter

It’s a rich, all natural lip butter that does a great job of providing lasting hydration, leaving my lips feeling soft, not sticky and with a slightly shiny finish. The shade is a sheer neutral pink (very sheer) and I like to apply it on its own or under my lipstick or gloss. It has a faint jasmine scent so it’s no over-powering and doesn’t conflict with scents from my lipsticks or lip glosses. My only con with this product is that it’s in a pot. I’m now reaching the bottom of the pot and it’s a bit tricky getting product out when my finger nails are longer. Also the idea of putting my finger in the pot to grab product sometimes gives me the heebie-jeebies! But other than that this product is amazing!

This is the first product I’ve used from Korres and it makes me want to explore their other skincare products. After looking online I see that they sell the lip butter in a few different shades and scents, and also in a stick formulation that I am sure I’ll try out!

The only place I’ve seen Korres products sold is at Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutiques. If you know of anywhere else let me know! The lip butter (6g) retails for $16 CAD.

My go-to sunscreen for this spring & summer

Sun-Protection-760x428

With summer right around the corner the weather is slowly but surely getting warmer (hallelujah!) and the sun is coming out more. With that we need to protect our skin from the sun’s strong harmful rays. I was recently in Scottsdale on vacation with my boyfriend and his two kids, and we needed a sunscreen that was going to

  1. protect our pale skin from the strong damaging rays
  2. be waterproof or water resistant
  3. absorb quickly, be non-greasy and feel light on our skin
  4. smell good (obviously!)
  5. be recommended by a dermatologist

The winner? Neutrogena’s Beach Defense Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum in SPF 30. This sunscreen checked off everything we were looking for and it was gentle enough that none of us had an allergic reaction – even the little casper looking kiddos! After we applied the sunscreen it absorbed and dried quickly, which is a must! As a plus, it contains Helioplex Technology. Now what is that? It’s a formulation of UVA and UVB skin protection that contains two key ingredients (made by Neutrogena and impossible to pronounce), that help resists the breakdown of your sun protection after contact in the sunlight. This in turn provides better, longer protection from harmful rays.

The smell of a product and how it feels on my skin is a biggie for me. This sunscreen is non greasy and has a great light tropical scent that reminds me of pineapples – not a coconut scent, I know some of you are no no coco’s 🙂

This will definitely be our go-to sunscreen for the summer. A 198ml bottle can be purchased at your local drugstore for about $13 CAD.

Hot weather and fab tans here we come!

currently obsessed: april favourites

How is it May already?! April just flew by. Not that I’m complaining though. It’s officially patio season weather! Here is my round up of most loved and used products for the past month:

THE BODY SHOP VITAMIN E BODY BUTTER

BodyShop-vitamin-e-body-butterTowards the end of March by legs and arms started to get really dry following my trip to Mexico. I reached the dreaded ‘peeling tan’ stage. I needed something with ultimate moisture and an instructor at my gym suggested The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Body Butter. Oh lord, I could kiss her! The body butter melts into my skin and leaves it feeling oh so soft and super hydrated. It has a neutral scent which is great on days when I’m wearing certain perfumes and don’t want body lotion fragrance.

Retails for $20 CAD for 200ml. Can be purchased in store or online. They often have discount offers – I purchased mine during a 50% Off promotion. Continue reading
